17.4.1 Mandatory education for all
Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, demonstrates a strong commitment to the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is dedicated to providing students with
a truly holistic education. To foster well-rounded graduates,
TMU has taken significant steps to integrate the SDGs into its academic structure.
Unlike previous systems where elective choices were restricted, TMU now offers students
the flexibility to choose open electives across specializations, empowering them to pursue their interests,
develop self-learning capabilities, and build skills relevant to a dynamic job market.
Environmental Studies and Curriculum Compliance
Additionally, TMU ensures that every undergraduate course includes an Environmental Studies component,
fully complying with the mandates of the Honorable Supreme Court of India and the University Grants
Commission (UGC).
This strengthens environmental consciousness among students and aligns university
practices with national guidelines on sustainability. Through curriculum innovation, sustainable campus
initiatives, and regular awareness programs, TMU continues to advance its mission of nurturing socially
responsible, globally aware graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.
