17.2.1: Relationships with regional NGOs and government for SDG policy

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) plays an active and strategic role in advancing SDG-17: Partnerships for the Goals through sustained engagement with regional government bodies, district administrations, and non-governmental organizations working on sustainable development. The University contributes directly to SDG policy processes by supporting evidence-based consultations, participating in multi-stakeholder dialogues, and offering domain expertise for regional planning and public welfare programs. TMU faculty members regularly collaborate with local authorities on identifying development gaps in health, education, sanitation, and environmental management, thereby providing data-driven insights for policy formulation.

Through its healthcare, social sciences, management, and environmental departments, TMU assists government agencies in modelling development scenarios, evaluating intervention outcomes, and proposing adaptive strategies to enhance impact. The University’s research centres frequently partner with NGOs involved in rural development, women’s empowerment, child welfare, and environmental conservation to design and evaluate community-based interventions. These collaborations strengthen regional capacity to implement SDG-aligned initiatives more efficiently and equitably.

TMU also supports monitoring and reporting processes by conducting field surveys, community assessments, and participatory evaluations that inform policy adjustments. By integrating academic expertise with grassroots engagement, the University ensures that policy recommendations are both contextually relevant and empirically grounded. Through these sustained partnerships, TMU positions itself as a knowledge leader and a catalyst for regional SDG progress, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative, inclusive, and evidence-informed development governance.
