17.2.5 Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) strengthens strategic collaborations with a diverse range of non-governmental organisations working across health, education, environment, gender empowerment, rural development, and social justice to promote collective progress and sustainable development. These partnerships create platforms for impactful community engagement, enabling TMU students and faculty to participate in structured volunteering programmes, thematic research initiatives, and the co-creation of educational and awareness resources aligned with national and global SDG priorities.

TMU collaborates with NGOs to implement health outreach drives, literacy campaigns, environmental restoration projects, disability awareness programmes, and women empowerment initiatives. Students engage directly with field practitioners, contributing to data collection, community training, behaviour-change communication, and monitoring of local development challenges. These engagements enhance students’ civic responsibility while deepening their understanding of real-world SDG applications.

The University’s academic departments also partner with NGOs to conduct joint research studies, community needs assessments, and impact evaluations, which inform evidence-based interventions. NGOs regularly participate in workshops, expert talks, and curriculum-enrichment activities at TMU, ensuring that global best practices and grassroots perspectives shape teaching and learning.

Through sustained NGO collaborations, TMU nurtures a culture of social innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and community-driven development, reinforcing its long-term commitment to advancing meaningful SDG action both on campus and in the wider region.
