Acute Neuro Care Workshop – A Focused Approach to Neuro Emergencies at TMU, Moradabad

The Department of Anesthesia at Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre (TMMC&RC), Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, proudly organized the Acute Neuro Care (ANC) Workshop —a specialized educational event designed to advance critical competencies in neuro-emergency management. The two-day workshop was held on 30th and 31st August at the New Lecture Theater, TMMC&RC, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and was conducted under the aegis of the Neurocritical Care Society of India (NCSI) and the Indian Society of Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC). The theme, “Focused Approach to Neuro Emergencies: Saving Life in the Golden Hour,” emphasized the importance of early, precise, and evidence-based interventions in neurological crises such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal injury, stroke, and seizure management. The course was fully accredited by the UP Medical Council, Lucknow, offering 6 credit hours to participants.

A distinguished panel of national faculty, including experts from AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Rishikesh, Medanta Noida, and Artemis Hospital Gurgaon, conducted a blend of theoretical sessions and hands-on skill rotations. Demonstrations covered key areas such as airway management, neurological assessment, stroke imaging, and neuro-trauma stabilization. Participants included anesthesiologist’s, general physicians, surgeons, orthopaedicians, radiologists, neurophysicians, neurosurgeons, and ICU specialists.

Day one featured sessions on comatose patient care, TBI and TSI management, and various stroke syndromes. The second day focused on radiological interpretation, status epilepticus, meningitis, encephalitis, and point-of-care ultrasound (USG). Participants engaged in interactive hands-on modules emphasizing clinical skill refinement and rapid response training.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Prasad (Organizing Secretary) with an active organizing team comprising Dr. Payal Jain (Treasurer) and Dr. M.D. Shahbaz Alam (Scientific Secretary) among many others. The program was graciously supported by TMU leadership including Shri Suresh Jain (Hon’ble Chancellor), Shri Manish Jain (Group Vice Chairman), and Mr. Akshat Jain (Executive Director).

Through this academic initiative, TMU Moradabad reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in medical education and clinical innovation—nurturing professional readiness for high-stakes neurological emergencies and promoting research-informed practice within India’s growing Neurocritical care community.
