Cadaveric Airway Workshop at TMU–2024

The Department of Anesthesia, in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre, successfully organized a one-day Cadaveric Airway Workshop on 1st September 2024. The event aimed to enhance clinical competence in airway management through hands-on training using specially embalmed cadavers, providing participants with a near-real, live-like learning experience. The workshop commenced with registration and a welcome address by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Prasad, Organizing Chairperson. The inaugural session was graced by distinguished faculty and university leaders under the patronage of Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Suresh Jain, Group Vice Chairman Shri Manish Jain, and Vice Chancellor Dr..V.K. Jain. Eminent experts from premier medical institutions including AIIMS, AMU, HIHT, Subharti, SRMS, and LLRM Medical College delivered insightful lectures covering diverse aspects of airway management such as USG airway mapping, radiological imaging, percutaneous tracheostomy, submental and retrograde intubation, and surgical cricothyrotomy.

Following the lecture series, participants engaged in two extensive hands-on sessions, where they practiced advanced airway procedures under direct supervision of national faculty at eight specialized skill stations. Each station was designed to emphasize practical learning, covering domains like supraglottic airway techniques, fibreoptic and video laryngoscopy, lung isolation, and tracheostomy.

The workshop also featured unique learning additions such as an anatomical specimen display and an art exhibition contributed by faculty and delegates, enriching the academic and cultural atmosphere of the event. The program concluded with an interactive discussion, distribution of participation certificates, and a group photograph marking the successful completion of the workshop.

Through this initiative, TMMC&RC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting experiential learning, skill-based medical education, and professional excellence in clinical practice.
