3.3.3.2 Grassroots Nurturing Program: TMU Inter School Sports Championship
The idea behind the concept of organizing Inter School Sports Championship under the Grassroots Nurturing program was to expose young talents to the advanced international standard Glimpses of the Sports Event, groom the coaches and students with the latest rules & regulations, trends, equipment’s and playing strategies without any kind of fees. As we all know that internationally Moradabad is knows as brass city but in terms of sports it has very less contribution in national and international sports and the main reason behind this that commissionaire is lacking behind the standard sports infrastructure which is not updated as per international sports bodies but here at Teerthanker Mahaveer University we have an international standard state of art indoor sports complex, BCCI standards cricket ground with pavilion, and multipurpose sports ground with a college of Physical Education where sports experts and physical educationists of various sports are available with their well-groomed UG, PG and PhD students of Physical Education.
So the idea comes that if we have such kind of facilities available inside the university campus, then why don’t we nurture young talents? Why don’t we expose them to the latest sports trends, rules& regulations and well-equipped sports infrastructure? So the College of Physical Education took this responsibility, which is totally self-funded by the university itself from the academic session 2022-23 and continues the same trend in further years.
Support to Schools of Moradabad Commissionerate
It is important to highlight that the schools of the Moradabad Commissionerate regularly seek the assistance of the College of Physical Education for the smooth conduct of their school sports tournaments. In response, the College has consistently deputed its Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of Physical Education to serve as sports officials, ensuring that events are conducted with fairness, discipline, and adherence to standard rules. This support is provided without charging any fees, reflecting the University’s commitment to community service and the promotion of grassroots sports. By engaging its skilled UG and PG students in such responsibilities, the College not only strengthens the sporting ecosystem of regional schools but also provides its students with valuable hands-on exposure in officiating, event management, and professional conduct. This dual benefit enhances the quality of school-level competitions while simultaneously nurturing the professional skills and confidence of future physical educationists.
Over time, this practice has significantly deepened the bond between the University and the schools of the Commissionerate. The schools recognize and appreciate the University’s contribution, while students take pride in serving as ambassadors of the institution in the wider community. Through this initiative, the College of Physical Education has established itself as a reliable partner in fostering a culture of organized, inclusive, and professionally managed sports at the grassroots level
