Preserving Biodiversity and Promoting Sustainable Terrestrial Ecosystems

Our Commitment to Change

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) undertakes initiatives focused on conserving biodiversity, restoring natural habitats, and promoting sustainable land use. As a green and environmentally conscious campus, TMU nurtures extensive green belts, botanical zones, and tree-lined pathways that support local flora and fauna while contributing to ecological balance. Regular afforestation and plantation drives are organized by various departments and student clubs to increase green cover and create awareness about the importance of terrestrial ecosystems.

TMU’s environmental and life sciences departments conduct research on biodiversity conservation, soil health, pollution control, and ecosystem restoration. These research activities help generate scientific insights that support sustainable land management and conservation initiatives. The University also implements eco-friendly operational practices such as solid waste management, organic composting, and minimized chemical usage to reduce environmental degradation. Awareness campaigns, workshops, and nature-based activities such as birdwatching, biodiversity documentation, and environmental education programs further engage students and staff in protecting terrestrial life. Special attention is given to maintaining native plant species and promoting pollinator-friendly landscapes across the campus.
