Building Sustainable, Inclusive, and Resilient Campus and Community Environments

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) fosters an environmentally responsible, inclusive, and resilient campus ecosystem that contributes to the development of sustainable communities. The University emphasizes sustainable planning and development through well-maintained green landscapes, pollution-free zones, and eco-friendly infrastructure that promotes a healthier living and learning environment for students and staff. TMU integrates sustainable urban practices such as solid waste management, plastic reduction drives, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient buildings to minimize environmental impact. The University’s commitment to clean mobility is reflected in the use of battery-operated vehicles and designated pedestrian-friendly paths within the campus, reducing carbon emissions and enhancing safety.

As a community-oriented institution, TMU conducts regular outreach programs, health camps, cleanliness drives, and awareness campaigns in surrounding villages and towns, thereby strengthening community resilience and participation. The University’s Disaster Management Cell trains students in emergency preparedness, first aid, and crisis response, ensuring readiness for urban safety challenges. TMU also prioritizes inclusive community living by providing accessible infrastructure for persons with disabilities and creating multicultural, safe, and supportive residential facilities. Through its integrated approach to sustainability, community engagement, and responsible resource use, TMU contributes significantly to building sustainable, safe, and thriving communities, aligned with SDG-11.
