TMU CTLD Organizes "SAMARTHYA BODH" to Assess Students' Mettle
Teerthanker Mahaveer University's Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Development (CTLD) recently conducted an innovative event titled “SAMARTHYA BODH,” aimed at preparing pre-final year students of B.Tech, MCA, BCA, and BSc programs for the upcoming 2023-24 placement season. The event successfully emulated various stages of a real recruitment process, offering participants a valuable opportunity to practice and receive feedback on each activity.
About the Title
SAMARTHYA BODH, which translates to “realizing one's capabilities,” served the purpose of providing students with a realistic environment where they could engage in activities mirroring those of a reputable company's recruitment process. The event encompassed essential aspects such as pre-placement talks, resume screening, aptitude tests, group discussions, and technical and HR interviews. The aim was to familiarize participants with the expectations and format of a genuine placement drive. This enabled them to gain confidence, refine their strategies, and enhance their employability skills.
Conduct of the Event
Samarthya Bodh comprised seven stages simulating a standard mock placement drive. These stages included announcement, registration, pre-placement talk, aptitude tests, group discussions, interviews, and final selections. The inaugural session, held on March 24, featured esteemed guests, including Prof. Raghu Veer Singh (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Aditya Sharma (Registrar), Prof. Manjula Jain (Dean of Academics), and Prof. R.N. Krishna (Director-CTLD). Experts from different domains interacted with the students, providing valuable tips and insights related to soft skills, quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and technical expertise. This prepared them for placement.
Post-Event Highlights
The event witnessed esteemed industry professionals who evaluated and assessed the participants, offering constructive feedback to help them identify their strengths and areas for improvement. This invaluable feedback enabled students to make necessary adjustments before the actual placement drive. Through Samarthya Bodh, students developed interview skills, enhanced problem-solving abilities, boosted their confidence, and alleviated the anxiety associated with real interviews. Moreover, the event provided insights into the specific requirements and expectations of the industry or company they aimed to pursue, said Dr. Manjula Jain, Dean of Academics.
