Metric 3.3.5: Mental Health Support for Students
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus
environment that prioritizes the mental health and emotional well-being of its students. Aligned with
the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), the University has
established multiple initiatives to address the psychological, emotional, and social challenges faced by
                    students.
TMU operates a dedicated Counseling and Guidance Cell, staffed with trained counselors
and psychologists, offering confidential counseling sessions for students dealing with academic stress,
anxiety, relationship issues, and emotional difficulties. Regular mental health awareness workshops,
stress management sessions, and motivational talks are conducted to promote resilience and positive
                    coping strategies.
The University also organizes yoga, meditation, and mindfulness sessions in
collaboration with the Department of Yoga and Naturopathy to help students develop balance and inner
calm. Peer support programs and interactive sessions such as “Share and Care” circles encourage open
dialogue and mutual understanding among students.
In addition, TMU celebrates important mental
health observances like World Mental Health Day and Suicide Prevention Week, promoting awareness about
emotional wellness and reducing stigma around seeking help. Faculty members are sensitized to identify
signs of psychological distress and refer students for timely support.
Through these continuous
efforts, TMU ensures that students have access to a compassionate, responsive, and holistic support
system—thereby reinforcing the University’s vision of nurturing not only academic excellence but also
the overall well-being of its student community.

Adoption of Mentor-Mentee System
The University's strength in adopting a Mentor-Mentee system lies in its ability to foster individualized student support, enhance academic performance, and nurture personal and psychological development. By pairing students with experienced mentors, the University creates a network of guidance and encouragement, addressing specific needs and goals. This personalized approach improves student engagement and retention, facilitates smoother transitions into college life and careers, and builds a strong, supportive community. The system also allows mentors to identify and nurture talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the college. Each faculty member in the University work as the mentor of a group of 10 to 15 students. To ensure academic growth, the Mentor identifies slow and advanced learners based on internal assessment marks.
