Forensic Week 2025 at TMU: Bridging Theory with Practice in Crime Investigation
The Department of Forensic Science, College of Paramedical Sciences, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, successfully organised Forensic Week 2025 – “Pramaan: The Science of Proof” from 18th to 23rd September 2025. The five-day programme aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications of forensic science, offering students hands-on experience, expert insights, and judicial practice exposure.
Aim of Forensic Week 2025
The event was designed to:
- Provide students with exposure to domains such as crime scene investigation, evidence handling, laboratory procedures, and judicial practices.
- Deepen understanding of forensic methodologies and crime-solving techniques.
- Educate participants about the integration of advanced forensic technologies in police and judicial processes.
- Bridge classroom learning with professional expertise through expert talks and demonstrations.
Objectives of the Event
The key objectives included:
- Offering real-world insights into forensic practices via expert lectures and case-based discussions.
- Providing hands-on training in crime scene investigation, including evidence preservation and analysis.
- Familiarising students with forensic laboratory protocols and their role in criminal justice.
- Exposing students to judicial processes through moot court demonstrations.
- Strengthening appreciation of how forensic science aids law enforcement and ensures justice.
Activities Conducted
Held at Room No. 515, 4th Floor, Nursing Building, the sessions were curated under the guidance of:
- Mr Ravi Kumar, HOD, Department of Forensic Science (Faculty In-Charge)
- Mr Yogesh Kumar, IIC Coordinator
A total of 100 participants (94 students and 6 faculty members) actively engaged in the event.
Highlights included:
- Expert lectures on investigative tools and forensic methodologies.
- Crime scene investigation exercises simulating real-world cases.
- Hands-on training in evidence documentation and reporting.
- Moot court demonstration showcasing the role of forensic experts in judicial proceedings.
