The world around us is witnessing rapid change to which higher education is no
exception. We need to develop academic programs and curricula that inspire youth
to play leadership role, be innovative and have concern for society. This will
help educational institutions to develop professionals suiting to the
requirements of future. Teerthanker Mahaveer University has been able to create
an enabling environment which foster competitiveness and quest for excellence
embedded with values in a short span of time.
The forces of globalization and competition are posing challenges before the
educators to modernize campuses with world-class infrastructure, new tech-tools
in teaching and increasing expectations of students to deliver quality content
and finest learning experience. Thus, universities need to adopt best practices,
improve governance, partner with leading global institutions and adopt new
assessment methods and processes. I feel happy that the university has
progressed well on these parameters and is able to contribute significantly. Our
recent partnerships with few leading institutions such as Vanier College &
Regina University (Canada), Nantes University (France), SolBridge Business
School (South Korea), Oracle, CISCO, Redhat and IBM give the university an
international dimension in terms of knowledge, student exchange programs and
joint research. Soon the university will be linked with largest digital
knowledge network giving flip to research in the campus.
Efforts made to attract meritorious students from every part of the country
yielded good results thereby adding to the existing broad-based culture on the
campus. I am observing another very positive change whereby students and faculty
are showing keen interest in participating and organizing conferences, seminars,
workshops and competitions, thus helping the university in strengthening its
links with academia and industry essential for any university.
I am sure the facilities, environment and forums created for the students will
help them in realizing their potential and dreams.
My best wishes to the students of batch 2011-12.
