Department of Psychiatry
Department of Psychiatry trains medical students. Psychiatry
department has experienced faculty and the main objective is to
teach and train the medical students so that they can deliver
quality medical care to their patients. Training of other health
staff in mental health is also done by the members of the
department. Services also include psychological assessments and
research related to Psychiatry and Psychology
The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra modern
diagnostic and therapeutic facilities such as Modified Behavior
Therapy machine, Biofeedback Machine, E.E.G, and E.C.T machines.
This department is equipped to deal with all of the psychiatric
problems just like any other psychiatric department of the top
medical colleges in India.
The Department plays a key role in the current medical
studies. The research interests of the Department include
neuropsychiatry, neuro-imaging, neuropsychology, psychosocial
research, economic evaluation, psycho-neuro-endocrinology,
psycho-pharmacology, ethics, psychiatric epidemiology, and
service delivery, and in early psychosis schizophrenia, mood
disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, childhood
psychiatric disorders, youth mental health, women's mental
health, dementia and psychiatry of old age. |
