Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre has been established to impart quality medical education and develop trained healthcare professionals to meet the ever rising requirement of the society. The hospital attached to the college provides modern healthcare services including critical care and emergency care to the population at large.

The college has been established with the permission of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India after inspection by the Medical Council of India in 2008 with an admission intake of 100 students per year. Subsequently two more batches of 100 students each have been admitted in the college after necessary approval by Govt. of India on the recommendation of Medical Council of India, in the year 2009-10 & 2010-11. The college has been attracting students from all over India. During short span of 3 years, the hospital has developed into 500 bed tertiary care hospital. In addition to this, there is a casualty section having 20 beds & intensive care units of 28 beds for various subspecialties like ICCU, ICU, RICU & NICU as well as burn treatment unit. There are facilities for endoscopic studies and surgeries in the department of General Surgery, Echocardiography & TMT in the department of Medicine, and Fluoroscopy in the department of Radiology. The hospital has got well equipped Central Laboratory for investigations required for out-patients as well as indoor patients catering for variety of Pathological, Clinical Biochemistry & Microbiological investigations. The Radiology department of the hospital has facilities for Ultrasound & Color Doppler studies, sophisticated Digital X-rays with image intensifier & CAT scan facilities. The hospital has got 8 well equipped modern Operation Theaters for General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT and Obstetrics & Gynecology services besides one for emergency work in the casualty section.

The teaching departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, TB & Chest, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Anesthesiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology are fully equipped and staffed as per regulations of Medical Council of India. Air-conditioned lecture theaters and demonstrations rooms are equipped with audio-visual aids to facilitate teaching. In addition to these, computers aided animal experimental exercises are shown to the students in the department of Pharmacology thus saving the life of laboratory animals. The college regularly organizes workshop/CMEs on important issues and topics. The faculty members have published several research papers on clinical data from this hospital since inception.

With a view to augment the availability of qualified teachers in the Pre & Para-clinical subjects, the college has also started 3 year post graduate programs i.e. M.Sc. Medical Anatomy, Medical Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Pharmacology & Medical Microbiology. Two batches of students have already joined the programs.
