The hospitality industry, during the last few years, has witnessed a phenomenal growth and has contributed significantly towards the growing service sector in India. The World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that by the year 2013, the hotel and tourism industry will generate 250 million jobs accounting for approximately 10 per cent of the total world employment. Openings at senior managerial positions in the industry are estimated at over 10,00,000 by next year. In recent years, India has seen a steady flow of foreign tourists not only looking out for leisure spots but also seeking healthcare facilities (medical tourism). The foreign tourists also look for spiritual solace in India. The Travel & Tourism industry in India contributes US$ 67.3 billion to the GDP and is expected to grow much more. |
